ABRASIVE BLENDING RATIOS for LEADX®

We recommend that the blended ratio of LEADX® to blasting media be 15% by weight or 15 pounds of LEADX® blended with 85 pounds of blasting media.

In laboratory test it was found that 15% by weight of LEADX® to blasting abrasive was sufficient to reduce the leachable lead from 11.0 ppm to 1.3 ppm. If the lead content of the paint is sufficiently great, it may be necessary to increase the ratio of LEADX® to blast abrasive. The lead content of paint is not an indicator of leachable lead, different paints may have different types of lead and will exhibit different leachable characteristics.

Increasing the ratio of LEADX® to abrasive will reduce the leachable lead, see test results.

A patch test should be done to determine leachable ppm of lead and correct blend of LEADX® to achieve the best results in stabilization of lead-paint debris.
